Ensure your Redshift clusters are not exposed over the internet

Ensure that your redshift clusters are not exposed to the internet to limit potential data leakage. This is considered a security best practice and should always be done. Ensuring this is enabled will help with NIST, HIPPA, GDPR and PCI-DSS compliance.

Audit & Remediation

Login into your AWS account
Navigate to the Redshift service at: https://console.aws.amazon.com/redshiftv2
On the left hand panel select Clusters.

Select the Cluster hyperlink for the database cluster you would like to check.
Under Properties scroll down to Network and security and look under Publicly accessible to see if this is set to Yes.
If Publicly accessible is currently set to Yes then select the Edit hyperlink located next to the Publicly accessible label.

Under Publicly accessible select No, then select the Confirm button.

Repeat the outlined steps for each Redshift clusters that you have.
